More about Cassette:
Cassette was nominated for 3 x MTN South African
Music Awards in 2007 including that for Best Group,
and ended up taking the award for Best Rock Album
with their debut album, Welcome Back To Earth. The
band has collaborated with local legends such as the
Mahotella Queens, Zubz and Vusi Mahlasela and has
supported international artists such as Pink,
Evanescence, Eagle Eye Cherry, Blof and many more.
At the request of Nelson Mandela, they also opened
the 46664 Concert in December last year.
.... They have had 6 major national hits in South
Africa from their first album including ‘Tracy’,
‘Beautiful Smile’, ‘Sometimes’ (featuring the
Mahotella Queens) and ‘AI’. They have also had a
national hit with a cover of the Boomtown Rats hit,
‘I Don’t Like Mondays’. They have produced three
music videos, two of which have occupied the number
one spot on MK89’s music video charts, while the
video for ‘Sometimes’ reached the number one spot on
MTV Base. ....
.... Their internet viral adverts for their music
(and for the Cassette brand) have had more than 2
million international viewings online with three of
these having been licensed by the BBC and German
national TV for flighting in the UK and Europe.....
Cassette has toured Europe extensively and in Jan
2008, became the first SA rock band ever to tour
Japan. In November, 2008 Cassette were nominated for
an MTV Award for the BEST LIVE ACT in the world and
played at the ceremony along with Kelly Rowland in
Abuja, Nigeria on November 22, 2008.....
Cassette is known for their often-outrageous live
performances and their dedication to entertainment.
Their recent protest against Zimbabwean dictator,
Robert Mugabe, during their headline slot at
Oppikoppi Festival and a Guns 'N Roses spoof in
front of a 40 000 strong crowd are examples of
this.
They have currently finished work on their second
album with Grammy Award winning producer, Darry Torr
and mixing engineer, Mark Needham (who has worked
with The Killers, Chris Isaak and many more.)....
Cassette recently signed to EMI.

Cassette's new single:
So it has been a while since one of South Africa’s
top band’s ‘Cassette’ released some new tunes. So it
is with great excitement that we bring you their new
single.
Their last album ‘Who Do You Trust’ was a major
success, and brought about a whole new perspective
on the band. Great artwork, great riffs, catchy
hooks, chart-topping hits, and one of the best live
performances to back-up the slick recording.
So many bands churn out a great album, but let
themselves down when it comes to showcasing the
material on stage. That is certainly not the case
for Cassette- with their eccentric lead vocalist Jon
Savage. Short, bearded, hilarious, incredible people
skills, and the bravery to tell it like it is! Let’s
not forget that he is also the mastermind behind
5FM’s Power Nights Of Rock.
On the track they team up with local sensation ‘JR’,
who burst onto the national scene with his hit ‘Show
Dem’, which was used for VodaCom’s advertising
campaign during the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Since the hit, JR has teamed up with the like of
‘Die Heuwels Fantasties’, Jack Parow, and many other
frontline SA artists.
This is something different in terms of Cassette’s
usual sound, but that is the formula behind the
band’s success- the ability to adapt. So, here it
is. Let us know what you think:)
Cassette – “New single out now It’s a different
sound for us but we are super excited about the new
direction. Hope you party hard to it!”
Cassette’s lyrics:
Gogogo
Lyrics : J. Savage & J.R.
The temperature’s up, around 38!
My mind’s in the gutter, at least at this rate
Let’s hurry and get nothing done.
Why can’t I just move along?
Gogogo, gogogo, gogogo! (x2)
Now it’s blazing, around 48!
I’ve got 20 meetings but I’m totally late
I think I’ll make a list of what to do...
I’ll just sit here and admire the view.
Gogogo, gogogo, gogogo! (x2)
CHORUS
Go ! Go! Gorillas!
Go ! Go! Die Bokke!
Where the sun meets the sea and they’re winking at
me
[JR] Where the circles are small and the women are
freaks!
Go! Go! Gorillas!
We’ve got to find something...
Let’s do that thing, yeah yeah, let’s do that
thing!
Let’s do that thing in the back, come on let’s go!
I’m tick-ticking boxes of things that I’ve done
The work is a pain but the ticking is fun!
Think I’ll check to see what’s on TV....
Damn it must be nearly the end of the week...
Gogogo, gogogo, gogogo!
CHORUS
Go ! Go! Gorillas!
Go ! Go! Die Bokke!
Where the sun meets the sea and their blinking at
me
[JR] Where the circles are small and the women are
freaks!
Go! Go! Gorillas!
We’ve got to find something...
Let’s do that thing, yeah yeah, let’s do that
thing!
Let’s do that thing in the back, come on let’s go!
[JR] Let me get in to it...
Hop into my spaceship,
Bring your spacecakes with,
We need to make space before we all get wasted,
singing...
Nanana na nanana (repeat)
The party’s getting crazy,
The people look so shady,
The cops just arrived,
Get a camera it’s amazing and...
Run nanana Run nanana
Gogogo ! Gogogo!
Some friends over the wall and some friends on the
floor....
Gogogo! gogogo.....
Run nanana ....
CHORUS
Go ! Go! Gorillas!
Go ! Go! Die Bokke!
Go! Al die groot meisies in die kort rokke....
Go! Go! Gorillas!
We’ve got to find something...
Let’s do that thing, yeah yeah, let’s do that
thing!
Let’s do that thing in the back, come on let’s go!
[JR] Awe.
