Solo Musician - Johannesburg
Kelly Khumalo

In her 21st year, a young, enthusiastic Kelly Khumalo was discovered when she entered a Gospel Star search. Khumalo had been singing in church all her life until realizing that there is a bigger world out there. The pint-sized starlet was knocked out of the competition as the second runner up, but that didn’t’ stop her, she was subsequently offered a lucrative record deal in 2004. Ten years since her first debut, Kelly Khumalo is now a household name, a SAMA winner, actress and a multi-talented super mom to 3 year Christian.

Her first performance as a professional artist was in front of a 30,000 strong crowd at a Kaizer Chiefs soccer match. Hardly two months into the music industry she was the opening act for American Rap star Missy Elliot.

Kelly's first television acting role was on the SABC1 drama series Then, when the youth soapie Rhythm City started on in 2007, she was chosen to play Sunay, the role of a singer, which was very close to her own persona as a singer.

Kelly released an album called “ Back to my Roots” last year 2014, which was nominated for the Best African Pop Album for Metro FM Awards & SAMA awards.
