About Amor Vittone

At the age of sixteen Amor presented Body Beat on television and soon after, she became the presenter of Supersport. After completing high school at Hoerskool Die Fakkel, Johannesburg as head girl, Amor studied a BA-degree in Communication, specializing in Advertising at the Rand University. She passed her Honours degree Cum Laude.
But it is her experience and ability as an SA champion in tap and modern dance and her title as Miss Johannesburg that opened doors for her to star in productions like West Side Story at the State Theatre in Pretoria and Richard Loring’s Girl Talk. She also appeared in Strictly Tap Dance Fever in the Joburg Theatre and later Streets of Gold in the Lyric Theatre.
In 2012 Amor starred in a production of her own, named Amorisque, along with a dance group in the Odeon Showbar at Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park. The production ran for four months.
Amor’s debut album, Wild Cherry Kisses was released in 1998. The album was distributed by EMI and includes both English and Afrikaans songs, as well as “Ti amo” an Italian song that celebrates her half-Italian heritage.
She followed up with albums like Dance in Colours (2000), Young Forever (2002) and Amor (2004).
Her first Afrikaans CD, Voluit, was released in 2006 and distributed by Select Music.
The album attained gold status (selling more than 20 000 copies) in only six months and was nominated for a South African Music Award (SAMA) in the Best Afrikaans Pop category. She was the only female artist to be nominated in this category for the award. The video “Voluit lewe”, the first song on Voluit, was awarded the Best Music Video at the 2007 Afrikaans Music Awards, held at Vodaworld in Midrand.
In the same year Amor was nominated for the People Magazine’s Crystal prize as the Hottest SA Artist. Furthermore she was also nominated for a Huisgenoot Tempo Award for the most popular Afrikaans female artist. “Voluit lewe” was also nominated the most popular song of 2007 and Amor was nominated for a Vonk Award for best female artist.

In 2009 Amor released the album Glo altyd aan more.
Another three hit albums followed this release: This Was Then: Amor Greatest Hits by EMI and Amor Vittone: Grootste treffers (2011) as well as Amor Vittone: 20 goue treffers (2015) – both distributed by Select Music.
Amor’s CD, Die tyd is nou, was released in 2015 and distributed by David Gresham Records. “Sprei my vlerke”, the second song of the album, stormed to no. 1 position on Jacaranda FM’s Afrikaans Top 20 hits. Another single “Alles net oor jou”, was released in June 2015. “Te laat vir totsiens” was no. 2 on Jacaranda FM’s Afrikaans Top 20 hits and the music video has received 134,000 views.
In 2018 Amor released a new album “Ek bly net n ma” under Amor Vittone productions. The single “As die wereld stil gaan staan” was no. 1 on Bosveld Stereo for three weeks. The music video has also received 137,000 views. “Il voglio cantare” was also no 1 on Bosveld stereo for two weeks and “Ek mis jou” also ranked no. 1 on Bosveld stereo. Amor was nominated for a Ghoema award for the best female artist in 2019.
The success of her albums led to to her being appointed as the presenter on Road 2 Riches, the Lotto programme, on television. Overnight she gained entrance to South African lounges across the country and with it her performances as a talented artist increased.
She became a familiar face in TV programmes like Legkaart Bonanza, Mainly for Men, Top Billing and In die kryt met Joost en Amor. She had her own radio show on Jacaranda FM and she frequently graced the covers of magazines like Huisgenoot, You, Sarie, Insig, Vrouekeur, De Kat, Fair Lady, Rooi Rose and Marie Claire.
Apart from her role as singer and entertainer Amor is a choreographer and a regular master of ceremonies (MC) for public and corporate events. Her positive attitude, charm and elegance makes her a popular choice as motivational speaker and she can speak on various topics. Her Woman’s Day events are very popular.
Amor is also a gifted voice artist and has done voice overs for numerous advertisements.
Amor was the presenter of Skoonma-se-tong, a reality TV show featuring mother-inlaw’s cooking with their daughter-in-law’s on Via. And also Skoonpa –se- tong featuring father-in-law’s cooking with their son-in-laws. She is also a judge on Kyknet’s programme Dans in jou taal.
Amor acts the role of Zelda in 7deLaan on SABC2. Currently Amor is a judge for “Acting with the Stars”
During the Afri-Indie awards held on 4th April’23, Amor received the award for Best choreographer and she was honored for 25 years in the music industry.
